About Us
At LP Equestrian Center, nestled on a sprawling farm surrounded by lush green pastures, the day-to-day bustle was nothing out of the ordinary. Horses galloped gracefully through the fields, their hooves creating rhythmic beats against the earth. But for the center’s owners a new idea began to take root—one that would transform both her business and their outlook on sustainable agriculture.
Each week, the muck from the horses' stalls piled up, becoming an ever-growing mountain of waste. They had always known it was part of the job, but recently, they had started to wonder—what else could they do with it? There had to be a more sustainable way to deal with the manure than simply composting it for garden use.
Worm castings—nutrient-rich, organic fertilizer produced by earthworms—were in high demand, prized by gardeners and farmers for their ability to enrich soil, improve water retention, and promote plant health. The owners knew that they had no option but to turn their waste into good and spread those nurturing benefits with any and everyone they knew.
At first, they used the worm castings in their own garden to improve the soil for their vegetables, flowers, and shrubs. The results were impressive—plants flourished like never before. Local gardeners, then growers, and even golf courses took quick notice.
The LP Equestrian Center brand took on a new identity. What had once been just a place to care for horses was now a hub of sustainability. The worm castings business became an example of how even the most unlikely byproducts—like horse manure—could be turned into something valuable.
And so, the horses of LP Equestrian Center continued to gallop through the pastures, but now their manure had a second life, creating an organic and sustainable product that fed the soil, the local economy, and the growing movement toward sustainable agriculture.
